Why it matters
The card breaks — not the page
A missing og:image or a relative image path makes your link look abandoned on social feeds, yet nothing on the page itself seems wrong. Previewcatches that gap.
Relative or unresolvable images
An og:image that resolves to nothing looks identical to a missing tag. We fetch the image URL and report its real status and dimensions so you know it will appear.
Platforms differ — we show each one
og: and twitter: tags are different vocabularies with different fallbacks. LinkedIn reads og:title and not twitter:title — and that difference can mean a bare URL where a card should be.
